Printing tips

PDMS "massage" before each print.

To get more reliable prints and to prolong the life of the PDMS coating of the resin tank.

Use the provided metal spatula to firmly yet gently scrape the silicone layer in smooth movements in multiple directions for about 1 minute (while there is resin in the tank).

The scraping both mixes your resin and re-distributes the pigment evenly, and it also lets the PDMS breathe and prevents early clouding and sticking.

Some finishing tips...

Shake the part inside the first IPA bath for 30 seconds. Rinse with hot water between two IPA baths which will make the second IPA bath last much longer. Whatever you rinse the part in will get resin on it so either rinse it in an old bowl or bucket or be prepared to clean your sink. I just use an old large tupperware bowl and that works great. When I empty the water out of the bowl I make sure I have water running in the sink and I pour slowly so the water doesn't get all over the sink. Throwing the water out may be the best option.

Recover the IPA bath by curing the resin inside with a UV lamp then pouring it through a strainer. Discusses distilling the IPA to recycle it from the resin also. (Formlabs forum http://forum.formlabs.com/t/recover-your-ipa/410)

20 Watt UV Lamp - This lamp works very well and much fast than the UV sterilizing cabinet below. http://www.ebay.com/itm/171413356412?_trksid=p2060778.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

UV Curing station – UV tool sterilizer cabinet with timer. Bulb may be closer to 250nm vs the 400nm curing range of the resin. This UV station does not cure the resin nearly as quickly as the EBay 20W UV light. I.E. 20 minutes vs 1 min. The cabinet is nice because it has a timer so you set it and forget it vs. having to remember to come back and turn the light off. http://www.ebay.com/itm/top-Disinfection-Tableware-UV-Tool-Towel-Sterilizer-Cabinet-Cabinet-device-C-/121462727494?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c47be2346

370 nm (peak) replacement bulb. Make sure it fits curing station above before buying. http://www.topbulb.com/8w-t5-fluorescent-blacklight-blue-mini
